HEART POLICEA Poem by M.BabuFighting it is useless. Give in.
HEART POLICE She’d been hurt too many times. ‘Wolves in lovers’ clothing’ she said. That’s when I got deployed. To police her heart from intruders. To prevent further infection. Of the crippling disease.
Curfews had to be induced, Rules obeyed. Military precision would go far In conquering this internal war. Love Vs Her. Her Vs Love rather.
But twasn’t surfeit. Her blood yearned for it Densely. Red blood cells capitulated To it’s slightest whisper. White ones searched stubbornly, To trace its final fibre in her body. The fibre I’d hidden cautiously. As my contract stipulated.
Her body couldn’t take it for much longer. Her pulse weakened terribly, As all her organs searched for Love. Her Love. She would wither away without it. Painfully. Sadly. The contract had to be breached.
Climbing to her recluse Heart. Plunging the key into its socket. I unlocked Love from its prison. Set it free to do its will. It’s intended purpose…
As for me off I go. In search of another vacancy. Not much more work here For the Heart Police.
