SECRET MARTYR

SECRET MARTYR

A Poem by M.Babu
"

Speak up! Use your voice! Find the right words and decimate this overwhelming cloud of oppression.

"

I’ll find the right words for you one day,

The words you know that I now can’t utter.

They’ll sting at you like a flustered wasp,

A wrath as belligerent as your earthly heart.

My words will tear and bite and mock,

All the pain you’ve had me bear these years.

The tragic tears I’ve shed for respite,

Will all come back to haunt your fears.

I’ll escape from this inexpressive cocoon,

That you shut me in and locked secure.

Afraid of my words’ impending doom.

You’ll hope and pray for my timely allure.

The time is now for the pressure relief,

My system necessitates this spoken detox.

To cleanse my soul from your endless grief.

And prevent repetition of your cunning locks.

I’m done with you…Oppression.

This poem I can relate to on a personal level. I think that I’m foolish by sometimes bending to pressure and not speaking up for what I believe in. I feel that I lose a fraction of my individuality every time I follow the vast majority, betraying my personal morals. I have a voice. You have a voice. We need our voices to penetrate into this dense fog and hold our heads up high. No more oppression then?! XD
Please give me any points of improvement/praise/ you’ve noted upon. Did the message stick out?

A person doesn't have to shout to be heard, in fact by whispering others lean closer to listen and that's where oppression slows down. Your words don't yell or scream, they're honest and needy .. they're sincere and finely worded. Never run with the pack because it can so easily change direction and trample you underfoot - that's how your words strike me .. you're holding your head high.

It only takes one voice for the world to listen, the butterfly effect is a great thing or the 100th monkey effect.......a ripple can become a wave.....the more we maintain our rights and individuality....the more we can alter this world for the better and in return, oursleves! Poignant love! xx

Amazing feeling my friend
This brings so much joy just knowing that someone has a brain for society
But at the same time can capture it in poetry :)
Beautiful work as always

And why is it that people don't speak up? My own observations indicate a lack if vocabulary, an inability to express concisely what is needed to be said. So rather than confuse the issue, people tend to keep their thoughts to themselves. The solution lies in education, in language skills and in the courage to put forward original ideas in the teeth of adversity. A job, in fact, for a poet...

great concept...the 'Secret Martyr' is the true self, martyred every time we stifle ourselves to fit in. Great concept. Deep, but not too deep that the message is lost. this is a message that's very near to my heart, and I'm glad someone's taking up the battle cry - "I’m done with you…Oppression."
Great job bro!they keep getting better and better!

great cathartic purge. This works on a larger scale when looking at conformity in society and on a smaller level in personal relationships that are toxic and constrictive. The line "the time is now" feels confined and a little hesitant in comparison to the rest of the piece. Perhaps playing with the wording a little? "Now is the time for pressure relief" sounds more active and present.
