THROUGHOUT THE AGES

THROUGHOUT THE AGES

A Poem by M.Babu
"

Where would we be without our Mothers maternal love? We didn’t see it then but I hope we appreciate it while it lasts.

"

5

You made my favorite meals whenever I was sad,

You read me stories and reminded me how great I was,

That all my dreams were plausible, and each I would have,

Your love was all I needed then, Mother.

10

I couldn’t play past seven, while all my friends could,

Your rules were harsher than sadist Adolf Hitler,

Homework had to be complete and done good.

Your perfectionism made me hate you, Mother.

15

You never forgot to make my birthdays special,

Never relying on gifts but the thought behind it,

Your advice was so powerful, got me through all my trials.

You were so well-versed and I loved you so, Mother.

18

You claimed I still wasn’t old enough to go partying,

That my decision-making was juvenile but still maturing,

I disobeyed you cruelly then, and hurt you badly with words.

Your tears and poignance made me hate you, Mother.

25

You never gave up and made me understand what you saw in me,

Gave your prodigal son another chance despite all the hurt.

While my friends wasted their lives away, you pushed me to succeed.

You were immovably patient and I loved you Mother.

35

Visiting my luxurious beach house you cannot help but smile,

Your grandchildren admirably littering and marauding around,

That gleam in your eye is so reminiscent, it takes me back miles

You were proud of what I’d become and I love you Mother.

50

The rain pelting all the guests coming to pay their respects to you,

I’m broken into irreplaceable shards but you knew this day would come,

Moulded me beyond any indubitable perfection and helped me through.

Oh Mother I will Love you forever and always… …

Author's Note

M.Babu
A mother’s love is a flame that burns the deepest shade crimson. It is far beyond my foolish words can describe and forgive my inadeptness for I cannot fully bring out how much it changed and moulded me. No fancy metaphors, no alliteration, little imagery…just my own tribute stripped down and bare. Mother Thank you.

Your words really touch me, there's an abundance of feeling in every line .. the way you say you hated your mother when you were young, it happens. that's how youngsters are, rebelling against discipline. Then, as you grew older and prospered you realise it was your upbringing had made you the man you'd become.

Your language here is straighforward - good and bad: ' I disobeyed you cruelly then, and hurt you badly with words. Your tears and poignance made me hate you, Mother. ' then .. 'That gleam in your eye is so reminiscent, it takes me back miles ~ You were proud of what I’d become and I love you Mother.' A sad finish ..

Your writing here and now is simpler but as dramatic as before .. it reads naturally but with shape.

Raw, pure and heart-felt. What more could a reader ask? Well written. I love it!

I loved the way this was written and how you described the emotions so bluntly. The lack of imagery really added to the meaning of this because it was so direct. It was like you drew a line connecting you and the reader and placed the meaning right on top. Very good job, I felt this throughout.

Only thing I suggest is for you to reread and check for grammatical mistakes (I think I saw a misplaced comma or an extra space somewhere). 98/100.

A beautiful and powerful poem. Our mother's show us the way to love. I was raised by Grandparent who taught me to be kind and have a open door for family. Thank you for the beautiful poem about a mother's care and love. We like to be kind and good people by examples of elders with wisdom. A excellent poem.

There are such intimate glimpses of your life here.. and how at each stage your mother had a significant influence on you, in the blessings and the pain.. Beautifully confessed, you show the depth of a mother's love, and how that love can shape the future through memory and more. So well done... Sitting here wishing I could tell my mother one more time how much I love her.
