THE POLITICIAN

THE POLITICIAN

A Poem by M.Babu
"

Extremely mild political ramblings

"

His voice louder than fireworks on New Years,

He barraged orders up and down the hall,

No respect at all for anyone, especially his peers,

Truly a Politician, as arrogant as he was tall.

His shoes polished, as a valedictorian speech,

He ordered anything he so pleased,

The Tax Payers’ money dug his holiday ditch,

Truly a Politician, as imperial as he wished.

His stomach spilling over his trousers,

He made way everywhere he went,

Respect and fear turning others to cowards,

Truly a Politician, as straight as he was bent.

His sly words echoing during his campaign year,

He comes once in five years to appease,

Building hospitals and schools far and near,

Truly a Politician, as slick as grease.

well done, mano.
"straight as he was bent."
slick.

i hear a voice in here of a politician, actually.
it almost bites without biting.
insults without being horribly mean.

it's got a soft-spoken touch which is rad.
and that's a good approach,
especially when everyone else is just screaming.

Your words are true. Election year the politicians will promise the world to everyone for their vote. Few honest politicians. Take a lot of money to run for office. Few poor men are the leader of this world unless a revolution of a sort. I believe we need business and accountant to be our leader. Men who know how to balance a budget and use common sense. A outstanding poem. Thank you.

I like the ending, the diction and as surely as the politician is slick as grease, your piece misses not a beat in bringing out the politician's character and way of life. The rhyme pattern is alright.
