CHANGING TIMESA Poem by M.Babu"Ambition and vision, A little greed never hurt. Burnt that midnight oil,Relearned what was learnt."Ambition and vision, A little greed never hurt. Burnt that midnight oil, Relearned what was learnt.
Decades away, Did your five minutes seem. Tunnel vision; What was here was what had been.
You put in the hours, Sacrificed a vacation or two. Chasing a bone, Perceived a distant moon.
Now the things you’d dreamed, Here, afoot you. Travels to beautiful paradise, Culinary thrills too.
Posters on walls, Turned to revving reality. Clashing culture, Smiling respitely.
Clinked glasses of champagne, Saluting the future. Brighter does it seem now, Looking at how you’ve matured.
Important reconnaissance’s, Tailored three piece suits. Very Important fake laughs, All what you’d been in pursuit?
Louder music, Dancing away complications. More exclusive parties, For those with more a possession.
Masked parades, Hidden pleasures. Your moment is here, And it’s one you’ve treasured.
Missed calls from family, Text message: “you’ve changed”. Time’s looking more sacred, Text sent; “I’ll be home in May”.
Dining royalty, Uploaded snaps from iPhone. Three hundred likes; Your popularity’s grown.
Assistant rushing in traffic, Seeking thoughtful gifts. Carefully wrapped parcels, As the company jet lifts.
Google; “Funny Birthday Quotes”, Search item 2 looking promising. Signed card “With love”, G550 tyres screeching.
“Love you”s exchanged. Kisses on foreheads, Another year’s passed, Another one to niche. ~M.Babu~ © 2012 M.BabuAuthor's Note
