The Madness on My Face

The Madness on My Face

A Poem by Mutley
"

Just my raw thoughts and rants on life.

"

Look upon my face,

What do you see?

Fear? Happiness? Anger?

No, you see madness.

Listen to the wind.

And free the clouds,

Stuck among sunlit columns,

Grasping, pulling, denying.

Face my face,

Deface my face where we see our efface,

Small fraction of simplicity.

Whimsical faces of concrete walls.

You feel freedom near,

Searching for your scent,

Waiting in the bushes for your arrival,

Ambushing you with righteous benevolence.

Do you hear that?

It is the screaming of laughter,

Painful injections of propaganda,

Needles that prick the soul.

Dangling prophecies in shop windows,

Foretelling death or hope,

Our way of falling out of order.

Killing ourselves in beautiful vistas of conformity.

Shimmering silhouettes of giants,

Or fuzzy visions of miniature?

Depending on your standard of living,

We could see a ruthless legion of flowers.

Suck my soul clean of evil.

So that my soul can be empty.

Some of us see despair written in the night sky.

Don’t erase our poems with sunlit fantasies.

At the intersection of you and me,

There stands a factory of dissent,

You are the traffic,

I am the road under the tires.

The light at the end of the tunnel,

It shines a promise of escape,

A promise that fades into darkness,

Once we find a brighter light to illuminate your lies.

He and I are in your eyes.

You calculate our addition,

The sum equals blasphemy,

But blasphemy also equals triumph.

Unify these juxtaposing angers,

Consecrate union above opposition.

Sanctify the freedom of thought,

Beside the devil of strangling dispute.

Look again.

What do you see?

Written by my ear, across my brow, and under my eyes,

You see the answers to life.
