The Dangers of Ambition

The Dangers of Ambition

A Poem by Jock Engelman

This is something to tear my heart,
Hundreds of works and pieces,
All gone due to a mistake of another,
Evaporated into the depths of the lost,
However I am partially to blame too,
I became too ambitious,
Ventured alone to make a bigger name,
Left the community who respected me,
And surely but slowly my work disappeared,
Leaving me wishing I had not left,
Knowing my work is gone forever more,
So here I sit like a foolish being,
Penning new works to replace the lost,

This was unexpected. I was expecting.the central topic to be greed, like those people who aren't satisfied being multimillionaires. It is very sad what happened to.your hard work though.
