Soon we'll sail among the heavens And soar above the clouds. But first, we must stay here in the war-zone And listen as the bugle sounds.. As your heart pounds. Pounding to the beat of the drum. So consistent, tis almost a comforting hum. For if the little drummer boy is to fall, Defeat is surely soon to call.
Oh but soon we will sail away. Soon we may see a better day. So don't give up yet young soldier, This war is not long till over. Keep trudging through your trenches. Keep on marching through the rain. Don't give in to the pain.
Though you take every blow to your pride With a smile on your face, It's ok to cry, you don't have to hide The hurt and the fear Of things so far, yet still so near. Oh but in time e'rything will be alright. One day soon you won't have to fight..
This poem shows the depth of the
writer as nothing else can.
The poem is sentimental without
being tearful. It is thick with good
feeling toward all mankind.
I love the poem because it shares a
kindred spirit, a generous attitude toward
our service men and our country.
We know the truth of war...yet we are within a world that lives or thrives when wars are either begun or ended...one day when it all ends yes we will sail into the Heavens..nice poem for the soldier...
A truly beautiful piece. It does honour and justice to men who stand because they have no alternative. Awash with sentiment and feeling, it is not a sentimental piece. It shows both love and respect. An honourable and profound work. Thank you for posting it.
Believe it or not, soldiers do not fight for a cause, a reason or to protect their country; they die, lose their minds, for each other, and the one hope that lives inside them like a fire and never burns out: the prospect of coming home. War is fight to come home, and you did such a great job of illustrating that here with your amazing words and prose.
I've never really shared my writing with many people, never thought I was really any good I guess. But, I love writing and have been writing for forever. That and music and art are my passions. You wo.. more..
