Safe Return

Safe Return

A Poem by Cherylann

He took her with his voice-
That’s all he had left and he knew it
Striped to a shell
Only tones and diphthongs’
He cannot touch or be touched
He can only go so far
Immobilized, inaction
A madman trapped by wrong choices
Diazepam the drug of choice the edge taker the calm maker
Maybe someone will hear him
...
He took her with his voice-
He quietly called for her to help,
To be, To accept
Her soul understood his need,
so with the deed of being,
she quietly listened

Night after night
Hour after hour
Raging or Silent
The dizziness the belly cramps
Mood swings, insomnia, aggression
The creepy sensation in his skin
He knew it was the feeling of his own disgust
Relentless she was there to be taken,
So she could give
She  cried in the night for his safe return!
Night after night, for his safe return!
