A Poem by Murray Emerland
"

A poem I wrote during a hard time in my life.

"
Whenever I walk
Into the room
I lose
A part of me

As if a piece of
Dried up bark
Were scraped
Right off of me

My roots are
Tugged at
Gnarled
Torn
As if they had never been

And I am left
All alone
Amidst the crowds
Who say they are my friends.
