Around Me

Around Me

A Poem by Cassiopia Summers
"

Everything changes

Around Me

I look around, and all I see,

is everything in life,

changing around me.

The twins, all grown,

make their lunches. I hope they know,

I love them.

Engaged at last, Mom and Kelley.

Her one true love, and a man

I'm proud to call my Dad.

He's not here to take

my Father's place,

but to be a true friend.

Junior year gone, one semester

to go. I can't believe how fast

these past years have gone.

Six more months,

and i'll be all grown up. Is it safe

to say I don't want to?

Graduation is a tragic moment,

the end of a child,

the beginning of true life.

Eight weeks of training,

screaming, running, push-ups,

and ten minutes to eat.

It'll be hard work,

but in the end, when I make it,

I'll know it was well worth it.

The Airforce isn't for everyone,

but I know it's for me,

helping and fighting for what's right.

I see changes now, but the

harshest is still to come, the blanket

of cold, hard reality has surely blossomed within.

Thank you, and you have seen it first hand.
this is a wonderful description about the end of one life and the beginning of another, that leaves me sure that you are one of the few that knows their path in life.

You verse this so well! Changes are always so hard and change is something a lot of people fear...to write it like this is to keep a note to remember....how we can move through that change! This is awesome! xx

A tale about a marvelous girl striving, living; You make me wonder what good I did to earn the right to be your friend; surely I'm not that good a person, if good at all. You're talented Cassi, and I know you'll achieve all you work for. No matter what, I'm rooting for you girl.

I like how you painted your life through harmonious lines and gathered it all in one poem. It's touching somehow and clearly vivid with expressions. The two last stanzas are my favourite.

It felt like I was intruding, reading too much about your life. But the honest and direct approach made me relate to many of the things you have mentioned. Looking forward to reading more of your work.
