Earth

Earth

A Poem by Kate

The Earth orbits the Sun
It pulls us onto its crust
Building our muscles with each jump
It spins days and nights
Years Decades round and round
Committing crime by
Etching wrinkles
Onto our faces laden with time
That goes by so slowly yet so fast
Shrinking our lives
Reality hitting us hard

The Earth's captured the Moon
Entering nightmares into our snooze
It slides its tectonic plates
Under each step we take
Plotting volcanoes and quakes
Everytime we blink or exhale
We're trapped in mighty Space
Turning it into masquerade
Instead of using its fecund aids
And finding a purpose
In loving and serving
All living with grace

it is fascinating how our whole lives are a speck on a pale blue dot circling a fireball. life 'That goes by so slowly yet so fast,' captured in one line. and in this brief time 'trapped in mighty Space' our lives get '[turned] into a masquerade' as we go about our daily routine pretending what we are doing is important. but there is an escape to this absurdity, in the last three lines, which i loved: 'And finding a purpose/ In loving and serving /All living with grace.' amazing work, next i will read Universe. i'm sure there'll be no cosmic horror in that one.

Is the earth "aware"?

Are we but self-defined sentient bacteria with allusions of personal grandeur?
Perceptions within, of our moments, are timeless...

I don't think the earth or the Universe has comsciousness? I think humans are unique in that sense? .. read more
