Evening

Evening

A Poem by Kate

A raw evening

Is peeling my skin off

Flaking like fish in the pond

Fatigue governs my thoughts

While

Virus is licking the door

Hijacking a series

Of DNA helices

Prime ministers

Double Mac dreams

Flashing out

From TV screens

Fogging up

Windows with new restrictions

Mouthing words of

Faulty precautions

As if they cared for cripples

Unable to retract

Their shoulder blades

Unable to elevate

Their thoracic cage

Breathlessly crouching

On my death bed

Twerking my toes

Frozen with cold

I feel the arteries dancing

On elastic walls within

Tunica adventitia

Sella turcica

Fever possesses my soul

I am dying... just listen

Lub dub of the

Central pump

Cardiocytes confused as f**k

Its strings plucked

By midgets decreasing in size

Closing my eyes

I am flying on DMT trance

This resounds like a Covid patient in a hospital room struggling to hold onto life as the television plays inane commercials devoid of any significance. It's quite brilliantly portrayed. I do hope this isn't from personal experience. Your command of the English language is laudable. Well done.

Nobody in our family has had it or even a cold for the last three years or more.

Great to hear!
This was a "sign-of-the-times" we exist (seldom live) in. I could "see" (and have seen) the TV, news(?) reports and edicts and the irreplaceable commercials still being aired. Depression, a need for sharing - ANYTHING - with damn near ANYONE. No news IS no news and friends become acquaintances and then just nuisances with whom you lost commonality.
