Baring their teethA Poem by KateThey are baring their teeth Warriors adorned
With splendid plaits And intricate robes Ferocious wild Fighting their foes Enemies adversaries In the fields swathed In woollen wisps Baring their teeth Savage, wily after the battle Cheering while raiding Territories and sacred temples Encumbered with treasure And monks Bereft of earthly pleasure Praying against pagans Hanging like monkeys On branches bleeding From sacrifices to Multiple Gods Cheering while raiding With flagons of ale Cheering To w****s scratching Their scarred souls Human despite their evil thoughts Their sly, pukish grins Makes me shudder Makes me shed my skin A blade of their sharp tongues Cuts open my thighs and Etches welts into my flesh Gushing with blood Cooling me down I won't utter a sound I am purified Unlike the Queen Ascending the holy hill I heavily thud on the ground Caressing my palms My eyes hypnotized Victory out of sight I am reconciled with dirt Imbibing my spat curse © 2020 Kate |
