Pigeon

Pigeon

A Poem by Kate

The pot-bellied pigeon
Cooing a hankering
For the latest news
In the loft
Above the nest of love
Pecking its feathers
With dismay
Racking its brain
Over which worm
Is the most nutritious
Slimming and no fake
Over which nut
Is genetically intact

The pigeon is blathering
On and on about
Its ominous song
Alas, the virus has
Devoured humanity
Of a ludicrous stupidity
Alas,the virus has
Banished the cell's DNA
Gnawing orgasmically on
Stingy atrocity
Heaven or hell,
Now you tell

The pigeon sonata
Is dying away
As the bodies charred
By the sunlight
Are lying supine in
Fields of a graveyard
While the queen
Is having an afternoon tea
While the government
Is caressing the self in
The bucket of wealth
Now you tell
Is this fair?
