Tick-Tock

Tick-Tock

A Poem by Kate

Tick-Tock

Tick-Tock
A Mechanical sound
Tick-Tock
Meaning nothing
If you like
Tick-Tock
Meaning something
The world is spinning around
Tick-Tock
The hands racing pacing
Around the bull's eye
Seconds slapping the cheeks
Of an invisible time
As one Party is saying goodbye
Resigning ... passing the buck
On... the election will decide
Duties shirked
A lot of money earned
Tick-Tock
Resonating
In the Big Ben's mouth
Reverberating
Along the river banks
Up to the sky
The judge's wig
Is full of pretentious spit
The nation's mind is
Conned by the media's lies
Into voting ... politicians
With malicious tongues
Promising gold mines
More likely to themselves
Then to US
Extending their vineyards
Bathing in a shifty sunlight
Exploiting people's toiling
Impoverishing their lives
The Houses of Parliament
The stately home of the Government
Is ticking-tocking
"Who's going to be next
Making more mess?"

Ha, nicely said. That is probably closer to the truth than any of the political commentary (aka lies & exaggeration) that my fellow Brits currently have to endure. Although I don't so much think the media is lying - they just focus on sensationalism and not on what people really need to know.

Thank you very much. Well, the media... maybe twisted truth? :)
