Identity

Identity

A Poem by Kate

Identity

Identity is

How I define my entity

You want me to talk about identity

Which kind do you have in mind?

Oh I guess it's just a free style

Perhaps identity within slam poetry

Is like spitting words on stage

Is like belonging to a community

Of the like-minded tongue twisted mentality

Ask me for encore if you want more

Identity is

How I define my entity

How do you want me to express that?

By adjectives nouns phrases

By chunks splinted with personality cement and orthodontic braces?

By me being painted

With a brush dipped into tomato sauces

Of massive social forces

And streaking my soul

Driving me through an anorectic road

Peeping through open doors

Shiny floors and polished knives and forks

Driven by hunger

My stomach grumbles

I am shrinking like prunes

Anorexia is so cruel

I am feeling my Ego suppressing Id

Who just wants to eat

Who wants to feel upbeat

And superego ruining the two

Or something like that

You once said you Freud weirdo

Identity is how I define my entity

Ask me who I am

And I will punch you with my unknown fame

I am a walking disaster

Crumbling on a flat coaster

Burning like a white bread in a toaster

“No no we wanted brown”

My customers used to whine

Stop nodding your hm hm head

Stop drawing your eye lids down

So disapproving you are

Stop shaking your index finger

Or I'll raise my middle F defender

Is that clear?

Oh dear silly me

A waitress with a degree

Striving to wipe your posh mouth corners

With gold napkins and pretentious postures

No I am not a maid

I am not a waitress

This is total madness

Identity is like defining my entity

Dragged from a hotel room

Into a friend's home-base

So spotless and me being totally homeless

Shrinking evaporating even more

In England

In the land of Eng -

Lish people taking pride in Shakespeare's wit and the Beatles singers

Help I need somebody Help...  Eng-

Lish delicious language shakes Eng-

Lish astonished quakes in the nation's brain

Concussed when the knowledge is gained

That the Czech Republic officially exists, no fake

That the Czechoslovakia no longer shares

The same President and

That the Czech and Slovakian Parliament

Are waving their hands over the boundary

Of independent competitive rivalry

Well well well

A Czech girl

Blue eyes, blondish hair

A Nervous smile

Having an exceptional flair

For the destruction in an inward direction

Fleeing from the heart of Europe

As if it were an outward reaction

A tad tiny like a kiddies' robot

Digging road gutters

Zn-zn-zn and so forth

Wanting adventures splutter

This time as a dental nurse

Oh bugger I am a nutter!

I am a bundle of labels

Moulding my identity

Defining my entity

Which like yours

Will always be

A skeleton of bones

Tissues and joints

Conceived in a bout of human ooze

Which is your roots

Able to grow, curve and thrive

Wherever and whoever you may think you are

About
I come from the Czech Republic. I've been studying English for several years (I am just about to finish my studies). I started writing "poetry" that doesn't rhyme in Czech, but one day I lapsed into E.. more..
