Of a scorched divorce letter recovered in a burning barn

Of a scorched divorce letter recovered in a burning barn

A Poem by Baldwin Mupfeki

Here l stand Mathius,
I can't do otherwise!
I set you high on a pedestal,
Only your feet of clay l discovered!
Ones which blighted our plight
How much can a woman stand?
To plough foreign seas in isolation
To love which whipped us!
Farewell l shall avow at last
Of new 'my love' l discovered;
With calmness:
Of a swan,
Words of a Poet!
Accuracy of an Archor-
Strength of a Matador,
With hands of a Driver,
Gripping, but holding,
With power!
