A word from the Father

A word from the Father

A Poem by Mark Hurlin Shelton

I give you my Life, my Love and my laughter
You are my chosen children, my sons and daughters
My most cherished works of art
formed from the sinews of my heart

Through anguish,, loss and a thousand trials
I have carried you many a million miles
I nurtured you and I watched you grow
So I want you to be still now and to know
that you will never, ever be alone
I have sent you my word, to carry you home

You my tender petal, you are tougher than metal
as strong as my strength
as vast as my breadth and my length

Though you stand up and fall down
you feel so lost, but youre found
Through all, in time you will come to know
that kind and gentle is your greatest power
and although you are yet a young flower
in this knowledge you will grow
through the coldest cement and the hardest of stone
and although you forget, someday you will know
that you have never ever been alone

So rest in my peace
be still and be strong
the time is at hand it will not be long
Your tears washed your eyes and now you see clear
And storms have made your roots more strong
there is nothing to fear
I am always right here
There was once a young child, and now an adult has grown
You carry my love
I will carry you home.
