The Dance

The Dance

A Poem by Kelly Scheppers

The Dance

we’ll leave the chill of winter

on the ground

drink from fluted glasses

the remains of a Sauvignon

we’ll count the stars

we see within

each other’s eyes

then map the constellations

of Orion and Cassiopeia

in a northern sky

and the moon,

the moon shall be our champion

a beacon of light that dances upon

the Delilah in my hair.

Not to be alone, the libation and stargazing, not to forget the dancing; all possible solo but never quite as good as with someone truly significant 🙏🏻

Whoa... Kelly reminds me of Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen... and has become my Aphrodisiac ... softly, Pat

I keep returning to why a Northern sky but the Delilah who betrays...wonderful start as your words begin lovingly and fall into fantasy, or basically into a woman, so to speak. I adore the images that flood and fill the wish or the want of something more until the eventual betrayal, which tells you that if you don't accept the beast of love how can you leave it all on the winter's ground"? I suppose it's all in the title if you truly read into this lovely trance~

A dance for two in a starlit night. How much more romantic can it get? Nicely put together.
