And perfect timing Kelly, as the world outside turns into an ice skating rink and leaves us all wobbling, sliding and slipping along like Bambi on stilettos....
Which brings me to my next point.
I think I've been staring at my screen for too long, because I actually thought the picture that goes with the words was of a single large red stiletto, upside down. Do you see it? 😃

Lol, you're right, it does!! That's some observation skills you have, my friend! Thanks, Lorry!
December, the month of the Winter Solstice, with it's shorter days, longer nights and the feeling of death as seen in barren trees, freezing rain and everyone just hunkered down waiting for Spring to arrive. Crows, those harbingers or hard times always have something to say, and while they never fly south, they especially love their role as soliloquy masters. I think though, your poem Kelly, outshines them. It is a delightful read!!!

Thank you, Curt. I don't mind the crows at all. I actually find them poetic to nature.
Hi Kelly, hope you are doing great, i am better with weather chilly, i liked the kickstart you made to 2025,
every problem has a solution, we just need to find the right solution that takes us to next level.
I like the pic, and your lines. i really love how you still respected my thoughts, never doing it, i appreciate your time for the family, you need not be a pearl, but you are the best.
Beautiful as a literal image cast in winter. Chilling as a metaphor for death with the mention of December's close, shadows of evening and the crow. The ending of the poem as a soliloquy to nature also a reference to nature's cycle in birth and death. Brilliant!

That's quite an interpretation, Soren! Most impressive. Thank you so much!
if anyone deserves one it's mother nature. you've certainly taken the edge off the frigid weather we've been having. nice escape as you remind of those strong, fearless birds still doing their thing. this made me think of what my muse thoreau wrote, "One must maintain a little bit of summer, even in the middle of winter." not everything slumbers in winter. wonderful poetry that totes nature and speaks to the soul as well it should.

Oh yes, the caw of a crow can be heard far and wide! December conjures up so many memories. As the year closes, a new one takes its place....and that is comforting. Lovely words, Kelly. Lydi**

Thank you, Lydi! Hope the new year holds great promise for you!
I think I hear them now. The owls have grown quiet and mysterious. We have Great Horned owls and Redtail Hawks living nearby and Canada geese that fly over every morning and evening. I love to watch them all. I like crows too but the ones I encounter are usually in town perched on a lamp post scolding shoppers. Great poem. I enjoyed.
