Umbrella of Crimson Red

Umbrella of Crimson Red

A Poem by Kelly Scheppers

Umbrella of Crimson Red

lay with me

in this cusp of autumn

beneath an umbrella of crimson red

oh, how the trees are lovely

this time of year,

vermilion leaves pirouetting down

in a whirlwind dance

scrapbooking pages

for  poets

and sages.

Sweet and soft as the passing chickadee almost as if wingless but for the seldom flutterings. A wonderful day to be lost in the image and "cusp", the spindling leaf and golden suddenness of twilight. A book, red and melting glass of wine, the swaying of an effortless hammock lost in distant laughter. Too soon, far too soon these colors will be gone, but not today, nope, today they pledge us all the honor of another day and come tomorrow...well tomorrow is simply a sleep and dream away. Sweet and soft these leaves of poetry, bookmarked and still with us. Fire? ..lol. Lovely as always Kelly...move over some would ya..lol. :)
