Umbrella of Crimson Red

Umbrella of Crimson Red

A Poem by Kelly Scheppers

Umbrella of Crimson Red

lay with me

in this cusp of autumn

beneath an umbrella of crimson red

oh, how the trees are lovely

this time of year,

vermilion leaves pirouetting down

in a whirlwind dance

scrapbooking pages

for  poets

and sages.

Pretty and descriptive and the little rhyming finish just makes it perfect. ~Jim

Thank you most kindly, Jim!

I really must learn to sip more slowly of your ink mistress K .. and likewise to savour every drop which of course is almost impossible not to .. however, I must also confess upon my first reading enroute to the shower .. I read it too quick and for a micro moment came over all unnecessary like someone had slipped an acid tab in my Cola .. I felt so much better the second time round .. Take care M'lady and write on .. ................ Cheers for that, but could you make it a dubble 🍷🍷😉👍
what a 'colorful' Autumn poem Kelly. You made me feel I was under that umbrella, watching leaves dance to an imagined Chopin melody. this is a very sensual poem and one I will put in my scrapbook, along with some leaves.

When my mother died I had to go through all her things. I found a little book of appointments and inside was a flat flower. It was on a page that was to make am appointment for a date with my father. :)

Your words are always great to read. Your diction and syntax are admirable.

what superb work. and ode to autumn, also my favourite time of year.
this is definitely a case of less is more. evoking this image of a red umberalla allows us to swim into this scene and taste its sweetness. and perhaps its length also reflects how brief this season always seems.

Very well captured Ms Nicely Niceington. (well, Sir Noodle already claimed legs as his own!)
The redness of autumn is what makes it so very special, with its red confetti leaves, trees and even bushes blushing at some in joke with the some time rouged sky.
It's nice to ponder what makes them glow and I can only presume by the imagined giggles I hear that it be very naughty indeed!
But just think of all the mess they'd make if they all got put on the naughty step! You'd have to join them there, what with all the effin' and blindin' you'd be raging at having to clean up... Best just to leave them to their giggles and enjoy the beauty show nature provides. 😃
