A Jubilation of Quietude

A Jubilation of Quietude

A Poem by Kelly Scheppers

A Jubilation of Quietude

sated in this humble abode

witness to rivulets of rain

minuscule orbs,

falling

plummeting

trickling  downward

into translucent pools

from a windows chill,

arresting my gaze

my ardent stare

with a jubilation of quietude.

This made my heart happy, thank you for writing it. I liked that nothing was capitalized and the over all layout. Jubilation in quietude is something that this world needs more of away from the noise, just stillness. Very good.

There's something about rain and poets. They seem to fit together so well. Your poem captures a feeling I can recognize well when thinking of the wet leaves and dripping windows. There's a quiet within us as though nature is trying to capture our attention. To remind us a quiet and reflective mind is to our benefit.

Great writing, Kelly.

I really like the paradox of putting together jubilation (which we would think of us as celebration, perhaps noisy, rah rah) and quietude....just listening to the sound of rain...peaceful...

this poem set my mood to "calm."

Let all the earth keep silence, as the book says. Some might be bored by the description offered here, but the deepest peace can be found in locations like this one.

I believe so too, John. Thank you!
"a jubilation of quietitude", sometimes just what we need; when wanting a bit of down time or solitude. And, if raining outside; it can sometimes force the issue (so to speak)! Indeed, what better time, when confined indoors; to focus upon and appreciate "rivulets of rain"? I noticed, how the writer has sought to express, both how falling rain looks; and can naturally change shape before our watchful eyes.! Keep writing. I accept "read requests" too, as I often remind people.

So flattered! Thank you most kindly, John!
Kelly,
I once built a chicken coop and had it all done except the door. I was out there with hammer, say screwdriver and was trapped by a violent thunderstorm. We lived on top of a mountain, so I was actually INSIDE the clouds when the lightning came with simultaneous thunder, but my cozy little shelter became a jubilation of quietude...
mmm... I love the sensuality of you images...
