![]() A Novice to ArtA Poem by Kelly ScheppersA Novice to Art i
was a novice to art he
was an amateur at best stroking
my scars and imperfections with
the highbrowed demeanor of
a scholar. our
conversation was sparse indulging
in the contrast of shadow and light, as
he gathered his tools in
preparation like
a priest in benediction. catching
my breath i looked away trying
hard not to gaze upon the
smile behind his probing eyes, the
low brimmed fedora that
brought his chiseled features into
close proximity. he
encircled my anatomy like
a lioness in a cage, pointing
my chin towards my left shoulder capturing
ribbons of braided sunlight in
the tendrils of upswept hair. i
took another breath, exhaled my
gown descended to the floor in
a diaphanous pool a
novice to art. © 2024 Kelly ScheppersFeatured Review
