Hi thank you for the review of Where the rain comes in. Thank you for your insightful words and comments appreciate them very much, The song lyric on your bio is either Joni Michell or The Indigo Girls both are class acts by the way . So to the review of Dead End Street This to me conjours an image of person who holds out hope in spite of everything dispite her heart and her head telling her that she should have learned she can’t give up trying to win him back it like an itch you have to scratch fine for a while but then you can’t take it anymore and you have to scratch you have to try in the hope that this time unlike all the other times the Dead End Street will be no more and Street Open may be a way through I noted as well there was no mention of Him in regards to other efforts that this pursuit is done singurly that opens a whole remit of ideas why can’t she have him back like all good writers we are not told and left to draw on our own conclusions A great first read if your work for me keep writing and inspiring Carl
Ahh yes, I am also familiar with that street. I don't always wander down it, but somehow I'll still end up there eventually. Maybe forgetting just isn't in the cards for some of us.

You know, you may be right about that! Thank you so much for your visit. Nice to meet you!
welcome welcome and welcome back again dear one! your poem is succinct, universally relatable, powerfully emotive for anyone who knows those dead ends .. sometimes it seems to take forever .. each one we travel down and back out from ... leads us to the main street and thousand more dead ends .. thank you for sharing your poetry ma'am!

Thank you for your presence here, Gene! My best to you, always!
Some lessons we never learn. Short and to the point. I think we all have that "one" we can not forget. We are not willing or able! Sorry you were ill. I hope you are 100% now. Lydi**

Your poem beautifully captures the relentless pull of memories and emotions that refuse to fade. The simplicity of the language enhances the profound message conveyed. The repetition of "you'd think by now" emphasizes the passage of time and the expectation of moving on, yet each attempt to forget proves futile.
The metaphor of a "dead end street" vividly portrays the feeling of being trapped in a cycle of longing and reminiscence. It suggests a struggle against inevitable thoughts that persist despite efforts to escape them.
Your poem resonates with anyone who has experienced the enduring grip of memories and emotions, despite the passage of time. It's a poignant reflection on the persistence of love and its lasting impact on our lives.

Welcome back!!! your brevity poem is very clear to me...it's so difficult to forget someone you loved ...you try and try and "it's a dead end street" that's because our memories are so sharp and every once in a while there is a flashback to a moment in time...your words are so true... and it happens to all of us....
