Drunk in Love

Drunk in Love

A Poem by Kelly Scheppers

Drunk in love

photography by / Gabriele Rigon

with martini in hand

he stood poised,

wearing a come hither glance

like a well-worn suit.

dallying my Jimmy Choo heel

from a pedicured toe,

i bit the cherry

from its abbreviated stem,

pleasuring in the heady intoxication

of an almond liqueur.

it was the lure of his smile

that beguiled me,

the speared olive in the martini glass

that initiated the parting of lips

the embryonic tryst, of being

drunk in love.

nothing like a good martini to lure love, to assess love to give love...this is so tight and clever as to how you brought this scene to life,,,felt like I was there watching....so beautifully written....loved every word and all the images I could see....

Perhaps it was a James Bond fantasy driving your pen in alluring style. A well dressed man with a smile and a martini would be very hard to resist. And the Jimmy Choos again! I wonder what colour? No doubt they caused him to smile as well. A seductive poem.

Lovely write Kelly, the photo and your words had me thinking of Audrey Hepburn and Cary Grant. They both fed off each others chemistry and alcohol is the perfect driver for the occasion. Delicious!

He is seductive and he knows it. He plays his smile as an accomplished flutist. She is intoxicated doubly, with the delectable liquor and with his heady smile. It's a concoction for fatal attraction. This poem is perfect bliss to read.

Kelly:
I'm not sure there is anyone here that writes a more complete story in such few words. The scene is set succinctly ... outlined perfectly ... and sears itself in our memory ... I see it playing out completely.

After reading this, I too am drunk in love.

I appreciate that, Ted...thank you so very much!
I want to be drunk in love again dear Kelly. I am foolish enough, just need a kind lady. One, who love jazz and the sea. I did enjoyed the poetry. Took me back to the days of when. I was loco. Thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry.

You are welcome dear Kelly.
Jimmy Choos are so very in vogue on here. Read a recent nice poem about stumbling in them so we stumble there and we revel in the same brand here. I love heady intoxicated love and wish to fall for it but I can't for some reason. I more often teeter. Nice one here though.
