passing in the hall
barely speaking
apologizing in whispers she couldn’t remember when
the last time he brought her flowers
or held her without provocation
there was hesitation now a disconcerting air,
consuming the want
devouring the need too many winters had turned into spring
too many springs, it was
the last time he brought her flowers.
It’s funny, having a garden my wife doesn’t like bought cut flowers preferring them left on the plant to enjoy. But that would be different for city apartments. Having said that my wife prefers jewellery anyday or a holiday. Anyway so eloquently written Kelly just faultless.

Seems times happen and we're not ready OR have been waiting for the unexpected... for either or both, the weather changes and the heart battles another storm. Your words touch the core, few can do that.. sadly beautiful, Kelly.

Thank you, Em. How wonderful having your presence here again!
I must remind myself to be kind. On Valentine day. Posting love poetry and I remember. I didn't buy wife anything. To skip the doghouse. I went to CVS and bought some candy. Dear Kelly, you words have meaning. If we forget what love was. The other person may also. Thank you for sharing your amazing poetry and your thoughts.

A virtuoso valentine's vignette that speaks of the pain of relationship breakup as the flames of this once bright burning fire now ebb and dwindle 'til only cold embers and emptiness remain further adding to the sorrowful solitude ..
