It baffles me how certain people that come into our lives stay in our minds forever. The memories are branded into our subconscious and come back to haunt or in some cases make us smile.
Something tells me this profound write is the result of memories that you may wish to forget. You are not alone precious poet. Thank you for sharing your very special thoughts with us. You have put them together so eloquently. Hugs!

The problem with learning curves are they tend to come back like a circle. Hopefully when the lesson is learnt the line is broken. Nice brevity Kelly.

I liked your perspective, Andrew. Thank you!
Kelly - terrible memories are the most difficult to forget get. The fondness of some and hopefully most memories are those we cherish.
Take care - Dave

Sounds like it’s a curve you are not over… the past seems to invade the present even when we put it in its proper tense.
I like how so much can be packed into so few words.

Thank you for creating and sharing your work.

I've always been a true believer in, " If you are going to fall then fall all the way "...be it love or poetry or hate, or even deeper depths that plague the human condition. Once more a clap of the hand to your muse and musings~ Thanks, Perdition~

You are most kind, Joseph. Thank you!
I believe it is a lesson I will never master, at least I hope not. Though to speak in past tense is correct, I want to believe in my dreams and never give up hope. So now my comment is threes time as long as your amazing poem and doesn't say nearly as much. I once wrote a little piece that read, "How do I get over someone I know I will never get over?" I know this feeling intimately.

in four lines you capture the entire emotional gestalt of what it is to live with a failed relationship. the past tense, which is still ever so much the present, with the struggle to get past and move on with life. a true sage of a poem here kelly

There are some people we never get over though we may speak of them in past tense. They become a learning life-long. A brief poem carrying in it a sea of pain...and love.
