Whoa... talk about the power of language. This hits like a gut punch. There's loss, pain, acceptance, and trauma all swirling about within these short four lines. Amazing!

Good morning, Travis! Thank you so much!
For me, life is an uphill pilgrimage and thank God it's difficult as hell to negotiate. I have always loved being challenged - Like a kid who wants to impress an admired test proctor. Putting someone into the memory slot is full of sadness because it seems to represent a kind regret or even a failure to hold on to what was perhaps deemed critical at some point. For me, there is always a sense of sadness, even in my best relationships. Something like knowing what it will be like when the party is over. I think yours is a really smart poem. Cheers.

This was me, dealing with the sudden loss of a friend. Thank you, Paris...and welcome to my page!
I just have to say, "I was never a pearl kind of girl," has always resonated with me over the years. I just love that quote. So for that, thank you. The poem itself is masterfully written, succinct and to the point. Some of the lessons that we must learn are harder than most, this being one of them. Learning to let go when all we want to do is hold on ... hardest lesson of all.

This set my mind to wondering about all the possibilities. Is it death? A breakup? Very effective writing, my friend.

For me, it was a death of a friend. But it could very well be a breakup. Thanks, Sam!
hard-hitting with less is more. it's amazing how much can be said with few well-chosen words. emotionally tough and sad. learning when to walk away and not look back is never easy. making the flesh do what the heart knows is tough ... :)

You are welcome dear Kelly.
Perhaps a recent breakup…and it takes time to realize through your soul that this is no longer, but is now the past…a very thoughtful brevity poem, which says a lot….

it takes a lifetime ... and even then .. those lost to us in one way or another can remain as angel spirits and joyful/sad memories ... i don't think i want to master the skill you poem speaks to ... the Earth and the "wheel" does keep on turnin' .. i love this little gem .. you, Ms. Legs ... are a true master of miniamlism in poetic expression .. such a depth of emotion in this one ... well done .. bravo and me hat's off to you young lady!

dear Kelly… the Curves of Wisdom take us on an Adventure that only a talented Poet could accomplish. You definitely spark an Interest in mincing words for Pleasure. The merriest of December days and Mistletoe Toe with Red Ribbon Bows and Sugar kisses. tenderly, Pat
