Women in Bars

Women in Bars

A Poem by Kelly Scheppers
"

...in response to "Men in Bars"

"

Women

in

Bars

by the third drink

they’re reapplying their lipstick,

balancing their wit and equilibrium

on stiletto heels.

Thank you, Fran!
I believe women are more wise than men think. I have six sisters and three daughters. The women decide their faith. I liked the vision you create. I roamed the bars for 20 years. Hoping the kind ladies would share a smile. Thank you dear Kelly for sharing the amazing poetry and your thoughts.

You are welcome, dear Kelly.
Poor gals, trying to balance on high pointed heels while intoxicated. I've never seen it, personally, but I'm sure it happens.

Can't help thinking Kelly this picture of allure and sophistication could soon be taking a tumble. How many more drinks till the lipstick smudges, the stilettos become weapons of mass destruction and the hair an unkempt bird's nest. Love the wicked anticipation of what's about to happen. Great brevity that tells a story.

Wow! You've really set the "bar" once again, Kelly. Brevity it be, but the imagination is piqued as to the outcome of their balancing act, as your poem now reveals there are two women, beautiful twins they be. Which raises the question, the inebriated men at the bar, are they seeing double?

You're welcome!
the horn dogs howl
another round barkeep
let's see if they get prettier
at closing time
or do we just get too drunk
to care

i do appreciate your offerings as an od horn dog do i be !

In the bars I used to go to they were tryng to balance themselves on the way out the door. haha. I was never high class. In some ways that's a good thing. :)
