Ok, one more for today....
Growing up in the northeast U.S. I often miss many things. I live in Texas now and have for many years but, besides family and friends, the one thing I miss the most are the seasons and maybe, fall and the changing of the leaves the most. Such a beautiful time of year. Here in Texas, we go from green to brown in the fall.
Though I will say...the winters...not so much missing going on there. : )
Beautifully written my friend.
You sound lonely, longing for family; you show this in the memories of past holidays where you were most likely with family and now holidays are coming soon and you long for comfort and that to many is being with family. Well written and very honest in its nature.
Thanks for sharing
Best, Betty
I didn't know it snowed on cypress trees :) Thought they grew in the swamps of Florida. Lovely thought though; the title caught my attention. I'm sure you miss seasons, living in California. I spent a few years in San Diego and I did too.

I was imagining how heavy the branches would have been with snow on them. A little melancholy for the taking. Thank you, Shelley!
This made me smile thinking about the memories of our times together with my family on holidays. This truly lifted my spirits tonight and I definitely needed this. Thank you so much!
I like this a lot Kelly, particularly the way you sum up the very bitter sweet appeal of, I assume, the Christmas Holidays. Clearly one cannot have Winter without Christmas, but it is a very 'loaded' time emotionally, and not always the joyous happy Celebration that the Xmas Songs would have us believe.

Family, winters, memories - we all crave for the time with families, for reunion, sharing, food, joy and best times. This write reminds me of family gatherings and holiday times. Wonderful! The title of the poem is very drawing as well. The ending line does captures the longing for holiday time and the heartfelt wishes. Beautifully written and expressed. Thank you, Kelly.
Such a lovely piece of melancholic writing! Independence is a wonderful thing to be enjoyed but for many of us our hearts always long for home. They grow heavy with the distance even if our outward demeanour is strong and resilient. That call of home shall always follow us, no matter where we wander and it just makes our returns to home all that more special. I adore your tone and the gentle expression of sadness that flows through it. Enjoyed very much!
