A January of Snows

A January of Snows

A Poem by Kelly Scheppers
"

...still feeling the chill of winter

"

A January of Snows

syllables and nouns

leap from my throat

in an ebullient attempt

to define

a love

more beautiful than

a January of snows.

A January of snows ... such lovely images spring to mind... no need for written syllables or nouns the thoughts say it all .

I drink in the warmth you bring me. Thank you most kindly, Stella!
There is much beauty, in this compact ode to the white stuff. There is romance. There is metaphorical allure. A finely crafted piece, Kelly.

You can write them just as beautiful, just as captivating. Thank you, Carson!

Perhaps, but I'm not so good at these compact little pieces. Though I pride myself in my succinct wo.. read more
I must admit I am not a big fan of city snow.... but, watching it come down in the country, as it coats the trees white, ground white, just lying there un disturbed by human touch, is indeed beautiful.... and I must add Kelly, your nouns and syllables have gone a long way in enhancing this fantasy....
it snowed here today and the field behind our house was all wintery, and later today I will take Daisy out so she can roll around in the snow.... thanks for your poem Kelly... Daisy and I will throw snow balls at you from the east coast... ;0p

Not a syllable or noun wasted or out of place in this little piece of loveliness Kelly....However, having pretty much had a January of snow, I wouldn't deem it quite as beautiful....If I could see, which I can't. Not sure if im suffering from being snow or loveblind, but my money is on both. :)

Love in a cold climate (Orwell/Nancy Mitford) eh?
As always you combine your pictures and words to produce a beautiful poem with impact and warmth.

Stole your title for my latest post. Just loved it.
Very nicely done.
Certainly fresh fallen, unblemished snow is as beautiful as it gets but I am sure your description would be every bit as beautiful.

We just had abt. 2 feet of fresh fallen snow, which does look beautiful but perhaps this particular display is a bit overdone

Two feet of snow is a lot all at once. Were you able to find your car? Wow, thanks so much, Dave.

found the car, it's the house we can't find
Nothing like the cold outside to keep the heart's fires burning. Love the contrast between hot and cold here Kelly. Great image as well. All good wishes.

...thank you, Andrew. It's so good to have you here!
I am so glad I found these words on the day they were born, no doubt I would have found them eventually, but that's another story & anyway, given that less is sometimes more, today's little discovery should keep me warm till spring....
