A January of Snows

A January of Snows

A Poem by Kelly Scheppers
"

...still feeling the chill of winter

"

A January of Snows

syllables and nouns

leap from my throat

in an ebullient attempt

to define

a love

more beautiful than

a January of snows.

Love is more beautiful than a scarlet rose on pristine snow.
In a single line, you said everything on its matchless beauty.
Words can be so expendable when an emotion resonates like this.
The chosen artwork totally awed me.

Thank you, Kescha. I'm a winter girl myself, so this pretty much fit into my wheelhouse.

Same, I hate summer
The image brings life to you poem, Kelly. The scarlet against the snow, both beautiful, also cloak beauty beneath. Striking short poem.

Thank you most kindly, Robert.
This felt very unexpected, like I could not fathom what was coming & I felt filled with anticipation as I read, to find out where you were going with this. I find it amazing how you get a reader on the edge of his/her seat in such a short poem! Startlingly original! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Your poem somehow captures that feeling so beautifully.... I could taste it like the fresh snow fall.... :)

Loved the photo selection to complement your beautiful poem...

Thank you most kindly, Ardra!
This gives me the feeling of longing, or that indescribable feeling we have when we look at our significant other, and try to explain them and our love to make sense. Your word choice really seals this up beautifully.

Thank you so much, Travis! Good seeing you again!
It's short, but so powerfully beautiful. Paints a very pretty picture, and I really loved the assonance in "noun", "throat", "love" and "snows"; it ties the whole poem together.

I love meeting new poets! Thank you so much!
Given that no two snowflakes are alike, you are as unique in your verse as two snowflakes melting in the palm of your hand.
