okay Kelly, the plane for Paris leaves Monday, I know it's not Spring, but with such heart felt confessions, I thought the sooner the better to begin to correct all those things missed.... if your dad was like mine, he smelled of Old Spice... oh and I have arranged piano lessons for you... I expect to hear you play some Chopin in the new year... and there is a stream that runs just beyond my back yard and you are invited to fish there anytime you are in the area, by the way they stock it with trout....
sometimes it when we look back it brings up the things we were not able to do or did wrong, but if you dig a little deeper, we can find all the things that made us happy and feel good to be alive...
enjoyed this poem Kelly..

If I click my heels together, will it be so? I adore every word of this, Curt. Thank you so much!
Your words flowed so deeply into me. They are haunted places, it seems, longing pages turned that cannot be read again. Makes me ponder today... what might we do or not do in order to feel only joy tomorrow, no suffering sorrows. Beautiful, powerful words.
Your words, so bittersweet yet lovely, really tug at the heartstrings Kelly, girl. There is such a wave of emotion that washes over me when reading this, much of which makes me want to reach out and give you a big hug. I hope your memories and photographs that you may have kept, give you some of the satisfaction your heart longs for. God bless and thank you for this wonderful poem.

Your reviews always find their way into my heart. Thank you, Dara!
deeply emotive ..and deeply felt Kelly :( your poem brought many of those things to mind that we did do and smells of me Da's overcoat when i greeted him at the door. so many years ago :( we miss them all... we miss the things we could have done ...i think of sitcoms about families in which one parent or the other inevitably says "You'll be sorry when I'm gone!" to one or more of their teens ... i bite my tongue to keep from saying it to mine ;)
the time of year rolls up on us doesn't it ...slowly but inevitably it seeps into our conscious mind ..oh my...it was this time ... when loss overtook me :(((( darn you Legs ...i'm making myself cry now ....big hugs girl ... love love love ya! ;)

I've been thinking 'if only I had...." quite a bit lately. Your words describes those feelings perfectly Kelly. Although there are regrets (I think we all have them) hopefully the remembering brings some happy memories. Always a pleasure to read your beautiful words. :) Julie

I like the use of the word "sometimes". These regrets come and go; they don't define who you are. Is the last one truly a regret or more tongue in cheek? Does the fishing couplet really need "could have"? A lovely poem again, Kelly; don't know how you do them so consistently. Oh, about Paris in the Spring: maybe next year?

I'd really love to see the 911 Memorial in NY, and "The Dakota", where John Lennon was killed. They're more in my reach than Paris...but hey, who knows! Good to see you still holding those tulips ...what a smile! Thank you, Roland.
This poem is absolutely marvelous and it really resonates with me. It's so easy to look back and lament; it's so easy to look back and reflect upon lost opportunities. It is abundantly more difficult to say carpe diem and start pro actively living your life in the fashion you want to so that you minimise the room for regret. Cheers very much for the great read. I look forward to browsing over more of your work in the near future.
whew very powerful and emotional too.. the acceptance of misgivings really made this poem an interesting read

Powerful poem and image Kelly. Your personal, poignant and honest verses give us a glimpse into your life, wishes, dreams and regrets. Your eloquent words are deeply moving and evoke parallel memories for me. Unfortunately, life grants us only hindsight. But it allows us to go “home” in our hearts if we’re lucky. Thank you so much for sharing this with us. Hope you get to Paris someday!
