Me, too. If only the younger us could've recognized the most important things in life. Even when our elders told us the right moves to make, we ignored them. That's how it was for me, at least. I always knew better than them. (Ha!) Perhaps we should start out in life old, then grow to be young.
Regrets....we all have them. Seems on some days they gang up on us. Warm emotions throughout this one....I can feel how much you miss certain people. Lydi**

It's always a better day for me, whenever you're here, Lydi...thank you so much!
First off, I love just THE LOOK of this piece. It's beautiful. Second, the regrets expressed so elegantly and simply are just a wonderful combination. The on mornings when I could have slept in ... is that a regret in itself, or is it "when I chose to sleep in?" two very different regrets ...
But one thing. Many of these regrets don't have to be ... they can be ... arranged.
Nicely done.

Usually, it was on the mornings when I was afforded the opportunity of sleeping in....aww, no alarm clock! I look back upon it now with regret, for we are geographically, oceans apart, and his health isn't the best for doing it any more. I'm really flattered you enjoyed it, Lyn. Thank you so much!

And there's still time for Paris ... maybe even a confession in Paris ...:)
Very ambiguous and broad reaching while still being extremely intense in verbage and diction. The verse:
"that too many winters have long since past
since I’ve been home-" really struck home with me and is poignant yet subtle.
Very well written!
Nice to meet you as well Kelly Scheppers

Thank you most kindly, Winslow! I am thrilled, truly!
Oh goodness, this is a heart felt poem. I know exactly what you mean when you say ' I am so sorry sometimes'. I think we have to be kind to ourselves though, maybe realize that we are not the only one. Perhaps the best way to cope with regrets is just to accept them, then let them go. There is the phrase 'To err is human, to forgive is divine'. You may already have been forgiven! So I hope you go on and enjoy your life.
So sorry to hear all this Kelly. Breaks your heart to hear your honesty and confessions. Proud of you for speaking up and letting go of your woes.

Beautifully written Kelly. We are all sorry sometimes, for those we miss and some we don't, for times and places and how they have changed.. For all the people and things we leave off our list of sorry's and a thousand others, but being sorry is being human and usually harder to say than comment on. Im sorry for a lot of things, but mostly for tasting Dr Pepper, twice. I forgot how disgusting it was the first time. :)
