A fine piece of writing Kelly. I like the references to the places and things that have meaning for you. The day is truly not underway 'til that first cup of coffee is in hand.
A little thing, the abbreviation of until is 'til unless of course you're turning soil. :-p

Every time I attempt to edit something here, it always changes the format and leaves a lot of empty space below my poem. It's so frustrating! Thanks for the heads up, though. I really appreciate it, Ted. It's left me to wonder why no one cared to bring it to my attention.
One can feel the pulse of the world coming to life in you, dear poet, through every sip, every sigh, the beauty of all things feeding your soul. But yes, oh there is a madness about the world, how it tries to steal all that is dear from our souls. May you always rise above it and guide us all to that sweet place of peace.

The kindness of your words bring me much warmth and spirit. Thank you, Craig!
Clever in form and function with the fading words, this is a cool one. All the things we think it takes to be our one true self are actually things that hold us back I think, become crutches. The John Lennon allusion makes me happy and the fact that a in a world gone mad line could be him and Yoko, Bastille or the Beastie boys is equally awesome. Love the feel of this piece.

Some pieces just present themselves faster than I can get them down. Thank you, Crowley!
In a world gone mad it is so often the simple things that help us settle in and realize its all the others that are crazy. We're just hanging on for that first cup of coffee.
Take care - Dave

This is a great observation and description of the modern condition Kelly. We have so much to distract and seduce us from the bare essentials. Your description of the menopausal take over is brilliant (I have a similar manic grab every so often!) and your fade at the end is brilliant.
Here's to a more relaxed future!

Alan

This poem is a beautiful representation of what it feels like to be me when the rush of the world's demands smashes into the wall I've built out of all of the things I want for (and from) myself. I love this poem. Thank you for sharing it!
But when you have that bedtime drink ,Kelly, remember......that tomorrow will be just the same. Think of the lessons in the film "Groundhog Day" .
Time for another coffee, perhaps!!! :-)
I wouldn't go to any great lengths to edit those hundreds of poems. Till is academically generally accepted as being more correct in terms of an abbreviation of until, than ‘til; which depending on the dictionary you prefer, is classified either as a loosely accepted alternative spelling, (and having a particular use in poetry,) or a spelling error. :))
Interestingly, till is actually the older word, being about eight hundred years old in comparison with until’s mere four hundred years. Until came into being as a compound of till, which was from the old Norse word und, which means up to.

I did some digging and found out pretty much what you said here. Thanks, Beccy!
