What is lost to the wind

What is lost to the wind

A Poem by Kelly Scheppers

What is lost to the wind

I cry

for what is lost

to the wind

for it can never return

from whence

it came

To me, the goal of a very short poem is to pack it with meaning, based on how a ton of possibilities are unleashed in the reader’s mind. Your poem is the poster child for doing just that. It’s not just words on the page, but ideas spawned by your words, which creates a much longer piece of consideration. A very creative way to say that we must keep going onward in life! *sigh!* There are no do-overs, I guess! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Your metaphoric brevity captures the regret of opportunities fumbled or missed. Peace and blessings to you.

Your welcome
So short, so true! But we cannot cry to long. Life goes on and we must hope that beyond the restless wind there is the true calm and beauty we seek.

Take care - Dave

That's wind for ya.. I always carry a packet of Rennie and a spare light bulb with me, no matter where I go.. Actually, all joking aside, this is one of them little pearls of wisdom that I shall most definitely consign to memory.....hope you are well Kelly... Neville

True wisdom shared dear Kelly. What was said and did is part of us. Lost in the wind. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry.

You are welcome dear Kelly.
You always leave a glorious but often pensive meaning in your wake, dear Kelly. Can't/won't disagree but will add that those fleeting imprints can leave irreplacable memories. Brevity can be the first sight of a rainbow.. it comes, it goes.. another comes in its stead - different but still uniquely precious. Surely, tis similar.. perhaps, if we want it to be.

As always, your words evoke emotion, beckon thought..

Your writing always give me food for thought. x
People, opportunities, goals...there are so many options to choose from. Life can be sad and cruel as well as joyful. I guess we're meant to feel them all.

I do believe so, Tim. Thank you!
That perpetual motion thing... it's a b***h.

Without it though, every single thing would be nothing.

The change is what defines us. Those winds of time is what makes us (before it kills us).

Life's a b***h and I love her.

Thank you, David. Glad you enjoyed it!
Beautiful emotions in this short one, Kelly. No, what is lost can not be returned.....which is why we must know its value when we have it. Lydi**
