My California King

morning breaks,

sunlight peers

through vertical blinds

you lie warm

and sleeping

in my California king

i sip from a french roast

voyeuristically immersed

in the rippled effect

of sheets

wrapped  sinuously around

the southern proximity

of my California king.

So, which door is it? Door #1, or door #2, or . . . . . . . door #3!? Does it ever even matter with you, dear poet? Any reviewer who walks through any of your poetic doors will always be a reading-winner. This poem also reminds me of the Southern Cross; in order to see it, you have to go "down under" (sheets) to reach the prize.

I could almost smell the coffee, as you paint a picture of silent immersion in the scene you're immersed in. And is that a smile on your lips as you watch the scene unfold? Silent only because thought is winning and there is no need for a soundtrack.

Good to have you here, Ken...thank you so much!
Love the picture, title, metaphor and the morning joyful sensuality of this sweet poem Kelly. Yes, it must be a delight to wake up to your California king. Eloquent language and wordplay, lovely verse form and flow. Thank you for allowing us to be voyeurs to your appreciative voyeurism!
