Lover Mine

Lover Mine

A Poem by Kelly Scheppers

lover mine

lover mine…he is the thread

through a needle’s eye…the preface

to a book i can never put down…a

crudité of pleasure ever sated upon

my tongue…he is the rush of bated

breath…the wind beneath my tattered

wing…the prayer that brings me to

my knees…he is theStradivarius to

my rosin bow, with eyes of a cerulean

blue …he is the lump in my throat that

beats like the hooves of a thousand steeds…

the hand that rests upon my thigh

on long afternoons of driving north and

yielding slow…the inventory of a stare,

he is…lover mine.

Before I read the Author's Note, I knew. Why you ask? This line, "a crudité of pleasure"....I remember that line from another site, another lifetime. Kelly, you write so many memorable lines. This is a wonderful compilation of them....so sensual, romantic, and filled with deep love. Wonderful. Lydi**

If there's anyone who would know, it's definitely you. Thanks so much, Lydi!
This beautiful tribute to the love of your life is all encompassing and although a compilation, flows as smooth as a gently rolling stream. A lucky man is he and the love you must have for each other is awe inspiring. One of my favorite lines is, "He is the prayer that brings me to my knees." Love simply can't get better than that!

Thank you, Dara. I was quite pleased with the results.
As per usual, I deliciously enjoyed these nibbles of your scattered pieces as you placed them beautifully on the same plate to savor in one big bite... the violinist in me sang when you referred to him as a Stradivarius.. noting the elevated perfection of a master violin, of which many sank legendarily with the Titanic.. and you the rosined bow, primed and playing beautifully across his body. Should it be “hooves” instead of “hoofs?” I loved that hand resting casually upon your thigh on the long drives.. lovely!

I also once took compilations of lines I wrote and stuck them together. You've done that here splendidly, Kelly. Your lines have taken on new meaning and the feeling is clear.

Nice writing.

Kelly, what a brilliant compilation. I'm always impressed how you can create such intimate and passionate emotions in a few brief, artful lines. And, always original. I also love the artwork you paired with this one.

You are much more than welcome.
well if I had to guess, I would say Kelly, you are in love... hope I am not going to far put on the limb in saying this, but one of the give aways was that hand on your thigh... I would have said the violin and bow, but Jacob kinda beat me to that one... lol ;0) but in spite of my little tease, it was an amazingly sensuous love poem... nicely done Kelly... and no compilation of phrases could match the passion here... nope... and now the limb just broke.... ;0)
