Wrecking Ball

Wrecking Ball

A Poem by Kelly Scheppers
"

...a love triangle

"

Wrecking Ball

you had to know

if she was for real

it wasn’t enough

that she walked away,

that she broke your heart

with all the subtlety

of a wrecking ball

i didn’t mind

picking up the pieces

of you drowning in Kashmir

and a fifth of whiskey

no, i didn’t mind

making love to you

in her California king

till you were comfortably numb

from the pain

but i insanely hope

she snares a strand of copper hair

and the scent of me

in the high thread count

of sheets.

damn! what a poisonous triangle of love ...well told Legs! your lines and words inspired instant scenes that revealed a bigger story ... almost a movie ;)
its a cheap revenge your protagonist consoles in ... but perhaps just enough eh!? geat read ..oh what lives we pain ourselves in
E.
ps. Zeppelin remains one of my favorites ... saw them in concerts when tickets were around $8 ... was at the stage front at one of them ;)

Much appreciate that, J...thanks!
OMG-I love this Kelly! All the subtlety of a wrecking ball... ha ha ha, so brilliant! So perfect!! I just love the biting, scathing flippant tone of this.. and as with me, when most of my loves and lovers turn away, I tend to subscribe to the same lofty brokenness as this.. the power of walking away wounded, crying but empowered... sulking but more confident.. we repair giant gaping holes in our heart by being stronger and wiser... just loved this piece so much!! Ha ha, it sounds like me for sure!!! ❤️❤️❤️

Thank you. I appreciate the comment all the same!
These are the songs that came to mind when reading.

Just walk away renee...
don't go breakin my heart...
you came in like a wrecking ball...
pick up the pieces (cue the sax)
Oh father of the four winds fill my sails...
eye to eye cheek to cheek
Hello...is there anybody in there?

Clever ending with a touch of mischief. :)
