Wrecking BallA Poem by Kelly Scheppers...a love triangleWrecking Ball
you had to know if
she was for real
it
wasn’t enough that
she walked away, that
she broke your heart with
all the subtlety of
a wrecking ball
i
didn’t mind picking
up the pieces of
you drowning in Kashmir and
a fifth of whiskey no,
i didn’t mind making
love to you in
her California king till
you were comfortably numb from
the pain
but
i insanely hope she
snares a strand of copper hair and
the scent of me in
the high thread count of
sheets.
