Oh Spring Do Not Tarry Long

Oh Spring Do Not Tarry Long

A Poem by Kelly Scheppers

Oh Spring, Do Not Tarry Long

Oh spring,

do not tarry long

for I have shed

my winter’s coat

for the rapture of

a robin’s song,

for the nightingale

and the mourning dove

to coo, night long.

Oh spring,

            Oh spring

do not tarry long!

oh Spring pleaaaaaaaaaaaaaase do not tarry ;) i join you in the chorus Kelly ... i get so excited whenever i see that you have posted anew! and never am disappointed ...i am so fortunate to have fled the north; our Ozark Spring began in Jan. as the crocus pushed green shoots above ground ..i feel you; as i lived most of my life in the bitter winter winds of the upper midwest ... arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh ... and surviving the Spring Tease was probably the hardest part of the whole winter thing ... its like enough is enough right!? i just got through taking Beauregard out to do his morning business (6 AM) as the moment was just before morning light and the whippoorwills were trilling i thought of how i love to listen to them .. and the morning doves' songs ... both are so cool to me as i can at least make an attempt at imitating their tunes ... (usually making them fly away; i confess) but i keep trying ;) great pic! love your plea! so joined at the hip with you on this one Legs!

this reads like an Elizabethan ode, it's different and i like the repetition at the end.

Lovely writing my friend :)

Thank you, darlin!
Spring is the season that grows patience in a smaller pot than Summer! However, dear darling, it has its uses if you look hard enough.. and don't doubt you do. Your words are silky smooth murmurs in this poem, so very beautiful whatever their temperature.Just on 07.00 here, cool, damp.. yet outdoors just a touch mysterious.. xx,

It certainly has us all anticipating its arrival. Thank you, Emma!
my feeling is that this particular spring does not want to come at all...it is in hiding.
just when there is a bit of warmth...it is frosted over....like a person having that ephemeral smile that vanishes in an instant.

You woo with your words...how could I not feel delighted? Thank you! x
Ohhh, Kelly!
I am literally stunned by the wonderfully embracing originality and beauty of this in every way a seasoned olde bard can be ⁓ from the perfect choice of painting, font, arrangement, and not least of all … the spell cast by the enthrallment of words flowed from the starlight of your magical pen.
A masterpiece from one of this site's premiere master poetesses, this one I shall not forget!
Humbly, I bow.

Bless you, Dear Kelly✨ happy Springtime hugs to thee! ⁓ Richard : )

Your every word leaves an indelible impression upon my heart...Thank you, Richard!
There is romance in your view of nature, Kelly. I know you and I are the lucky ones...we have spring and summer all year long. Beautifully written and the artwork you chose to accompany your words is so lovely. Lydi**

So many expressions and so little time...
but time enough for love and interludes..
Weatherman needs to be shot this side- keeps saying it’s going to warm up but guess he’s got it wrong- wonderful is the feeling of the warmth of the sun in bare skin, being kissed by the sun , warming the heart and the soul- speak to the seasons- maybe they’ll listen, wonderful words🌹
