Morning Brew

Morning Brew

A Poem by Kelly Scheppers
"

...the chaos of morning

"

Morning Brew

Wide  awake ,

to splash warm water

in my face

to stumble upon

three cats in the hall,

to find a body

warm and small

curled up within

a fetal position

sound asleep,

oblivious to

the smell of coffee

that warms my face

and puts me in

a complaisant mood,

to catch the garbage men in time

to pack the lunches

and iron the clothes

and wipe the nose

that’s running, still.

Morning brew,

i need a few

cups of coffee before noon,

cartoons blaring on the tv

crumbs all scattered

on the floor,

baby’s crying

reminding me

i’m not single, anymore.

Yeah a lot of people seem to need the taste of coffee to wake up... I need a morning Pepsi for my caffeine
in my morning... I complete understand the need though... Very nice write

I love coffee. I have drank coffee in 40 countries. Italy espresso. The best. I liked and understood the poem. A cup of coffee and quiet time. Rare paradise for us. Thank you Kelly for sharing the amazing words and thoughts.
