To have the forethought to protect her children the way she did before committing suicide, was something that shook me when I saw the documentary on her life. It's called "Sylvia", and Gwyneth Paltrow portrays her. It's a movie you will never forget! Thank you so much for reading this, Cassie!
A difficult subject to write about, especially when it refers to Sylvia Plath. She gassed herself, leaving biscuits and milk for her two young children who were sleeping. She had previously tried before. She must have been driven to despair and I won't judge her. However I do think about the effect it had on her children and that her son also died by his own hands years later. An interesting write which gets you thinking. Thank you Kelly.

One can only imagine the infinite struggle and pain they endured growing up. Thank you for reading this one, Chris. I have another on Sylvia I wrote a few years ago, telling of the circumstances of the night she took her life. I'd really love for you to read it.

There's a box at the upper right hand corner of every poem you post with eight icons in it - there you will find a little white envelope with a green dot on it. When you click on it, it reveals all the names of your friends. You decide who to send out an invitation to, to read your poem. If you have any other questions, I'd be glad to help if I can. Let me know, ok?

Courage is often born from despair.
But sometimes it is channeled in the wrong direction.
I think you wrote this so well given the subject.
Well done.

It seems Sylvia Plath & my godmother had more than poetry in common......There is a sadness that is often said unspoken...............................A moving write indeed...Thank you Neville

well, who knows what depths of despair can do to the mind ?
it is not for us to judge , but no, I personally could not hurt those left behind with such a sad memory.

I`ve spent a long time reading and re-reading your poem, Kelly, trying to ask myself the right questions. I`ve not come up with anything insightful, both personally or in general, except perhaps that some among us value that which they have lost so much that they see no future. For me, having been married to the love of my life for forty-six years and then having lost her suddenly made me realise that despite my despair
I was basically just another mammal instinctively trying to persist another day - and then another.
Thanks for giving me such food for thought, Kelly. P

Your avatar depicts a wise soul of a man, to me, as does your writing. I admire your style very much, but never thought to tell you. Thank you for the warmth these words bring me today, Pete! Many blessings.
Wow, very profound, suicide is a horrible subject to talk about. Powerful read here

Yes, I understand the profound feeling here. Your poem is a lovely tribute to a gifted life taken by suicide. Your words are so analytical yet graceful and delicate and ask the answerless questions...who of us has not considered suicide when life is cruel, crushing and untenable...I am so sorry to know that you are going through difficult times dear Kelly. I thank you for your important, powerful poem and I send you light, strength, blessings and friendship.

This was simply pure conjecture on my part. But I really love your perspective on what I wrote, for your opinion is pretty much my own! Thank you so much!
This is so strong! Who among us have not contemplated
taking that step into the "great unknown?" I edged this,
slightly in my "Dark Visitor." To reconcile oneself to the
inevitability of death or bringing it about by oneself is
the ultimate act of bravery or cowardice.
Please - take care - Dave
