One of your finest works. I say that because it just feels and reads like a classic. There's no unwanted abrasive edge that scratches the back of the mind. No hidden agenda. It's a poem to pull out, read from time to time, sit and sigh and remember the loves lost. I like the use of the short line "it scars". It's a powerful break. The title, which also is the end line, reminds us of the capacity of how much we are able to feel of being in love and without being loved. You should be proud of it.

I am very proud of it! Thank you so much, CD. I deeply appreciate your every word!
Thank you for such an original take on a love poem (I get so tired of hackneyed love poems), with a fresh point of view & well-crafted metaphor! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

I didn't want it to sound cliched, so thank you for complimenting my efforts, Margie!
Once more, you take the big questions in life and break it down to its constituent parts. It is what we strive for, to love and be loved, yet consumes us and spits us out at times, and just like the little love junkies we are, we come back for more….Which proves beyond doubt that love must be a disease more infectious than crack
Perfectly penned.

I'm a love junkie. It has a way of reforming us all. Thanks, Lorry!
I relate to this intensely... and you were able to say so much in so little, masterful.

We fall, we hurt, we are changed. And the foot prints change the landscape, even as it melts. And the depth of the heart is infinite. always so lovely to come get lost in your words...

...that truly is the best of all comments...thank you, Jen!
Yes isn’t it just unexplainable that even though there’s nothing theres everything - depths spiralling into unknown heights in search for unity but lost in the blink of an eye- yes I believe love needs to be nurtured and kept alive for once lost we are left with scars and memories deep- very powerful poem I enjoyed reading🌹
This spoke to me today, the contradictions of love. A substance that can disappear but still remain. It changes its shape so easily, I find... but I think I am more fickle than most!
