Garbo

She was

the ever beautiful Marguerite

in “Camille”,

the doomed courtesan

with a glow

that propitiously shone

about her

dubbed,  the Swedish sphinx

she rose from the silent era

luminous and breathtaking

flawless and transcendent,

with eyes

you could fall into

It was the nineteenth century

and Garbo was dressed

in a bustle of sequined gowns,

with a flowering camellia

to her waist.

and that is how I’ll remember her…

a Hollywood classic

who was more Garbo

than Greta

luminous and breathtaking,

divine for all eternity.

You take an elegant subject and give it an appropriately elegant treatment in this lovely tribute to an iconic thespian Kelly.

Your steered on the non-fanfic side of homage here Kelly, making it clear that this icon was also a human, a person, a woman.
The reader gets a real sense of the glamour and the glitz and her uniqueness.
A beautiful tribute to a beautiful woman.
Well done!
:)

Thank you, Tony. I'm thrilled you enjoyed my tribute!
A goddess meant to be gazed upon but not, never, touched. That would break the spell. A beauty beyond lust. classic beyond memory. She just was.

I was mesmerized by her, the first time I saw her on film. Such a classic, indeed! Thank you, Ken!
Lovely piece of poetry on Greta. I heard she was gay so that broke a lot of male hearts if that is true, sadly she chose a reclusive lifestyle. She was so photogenic too! Divine!
