Garbo

She was

the ever beautiful Marguerite

in “Camille”,

the doomed courtesan

with a glow

that propitiously shone

about her

dubbed,  the Swedish sphinx

she rose from the silent era

luminous and breathtaking

flawless and transcendent,

with eyes

you could fall into

It was the nineteenth century

and Garbo was dressed

in a bustle of sequined gowns,

with a flowering camellia

to her waist.

and that is how I’ll remember her…

a Hollywood classic

who was more Garbo

than Greta

luminous and breathtaking,

divine for all eternity.

It's very special to me and will remain so. I knew it, right after writing it. Thank you so much!
You describe her so well. She was so beautiful, in so many ways. A distinctive icon of her day, there are very few of her stature today.

You are very welcome.
Propitiously.

I love Greta Garbo.

I still drown
in the memory
of her eyes.

I have a gif
where she
gives me

eternal kisses.

...oh, how cool! Thank you so much for visiting me today, Alan! x
That’s truly lovely, Kelly. As much as I’m a fan of Garbo I’ve never seen her in “Camille.” I’ll always remember her in Queen Christina – and especially that iconic final scene when she stands as a silent figurehead at the bow of the ship bound for Spain. Sigh! She still inspires as she certainly did here. I’ll definitely have to see Camille now!

I use to think of Jack Nickelson in his wild and wooly ways as something we both shared. The affinity understood, the poem elegant and the women, herself, shinning through all eternity.

Love,

I have to agree with Lydia. You seem to have a beautiful old soul and relate to those famous actresses of yore that were just one of a kind. Your words flow off the page and the image you create is simply breathtaking.
