A shade of gray

A shade of gray

A Poem by Kelly Scheppers

The shattered glass

upon the floor

gave credence

to her doubts once more

for there,

within the matted frame

a love had vowed

to never wane.

A promise

that beckoned to be true,

was dressed in something old

and new…

and wearing a smile

handsomely portrayed,

deception wore

a shade of gray.

You are welcome dear Kelly and I will use these words tonight.
lovely poem

I still have to be truthful

It falters only in the meter towards the end...If the word promise for instance was replaced by VOW it would drift along perfectly...the final verse in this old rhymer's opinion still needs some polishing for the same reason....Sorry if this sounds crass but I can only say what I see...good poem nonetheless

I appreciate your suggestion, Doc, but since I had used the word "vow" in the second verse, I didn't.. read more
