A shade of gray

A shade of gray

A Poem by Kelly Scheppers

The shattered glass

upon the floor

gave credence

to her doubts once more

for there,

within the matted frame

a love had vowed

to never wane.

Image result for black and white photography of heartache

A promise

that beckoned to be true,

was dressed in something old

and new…

and wearing a smile

handsomely portrayed,

deception wore

a shade of gray.

when the glass is shattered...that rose colored glass...deception shades every emotion with a grey cloud...

I love how your words some how flow off the page
Very much mimics the idea of deception
Starts off strong and wanes off

Then you wonder
What was all that

Really well done !!

Thank you for your review. Its always a pleasure hearing from a new reader!
Portrays the feelings of betrayal by a spouse who took marriage vows and then broke them. The metaphorical picture frame laying shattered is often reality. Very poignant Kelly.

I love the font and form of this piece, which lends itself beautifully to the heartbreak. Each time an author takes back this shade I feel relief. As to the content, deception in love is the ultimate pain. Nicely expressed.

It's true what they say - about some pieces writing themselves. Thank you so much, Dara!
An abundance of sheer poetic vision and wisdom. I can find a hundred million ways to compliment your talent and never repeat myself once.
