A lovely poem Kelly, but I must admit at first read, I had to laugh as the word longfellow reminded me of a joke where a horse orders a drink from the bar and the barman says why the longface! this was enforced by your line the hoofs of a thousand steeds. After gathering composure I read this as quite elegant and cleverly said. I'm not familiar with Longfellow so excuse my ignorance but I shall look him up. Well done Kelly.:)

You know? Lol, thank you for the scenario of the horse joke!
Oh man this is nice. It's such a great paradox of writing about the inability to articulate one feeling within poetry, yet you described that feeling beautifully.

I agree, you can't cast of footstep of Longfellow, but let me warn you madam, I see in your foot print one who is her own.

This poem says so much, so eloquently, in so few words! I love Longfellow - a great, great poet, but sadly somewhat out of fashion today for some bizarre reason! I regularly read his poems - especially the wonderful, "Tales of a Wayside Inn" series One and Two. Your poem is a mini-masterpiece, Kelly!

...you always leave me with a smile, and I love it! ...you're the best! ; )
We all have our style and I love yours, Kelly. LOVE is a timeless topic for poets and it's not easy to come up with new and creative ways to express it.. but you always hold your own while paying honor to the masters.
No, you are a Scheppers girl and you can express it perfectly in my humble opinion! I could feel that thumping....the excitement....the newness of a relationship. Wonderful, Kelly. Lydi**
